Children’s Fairyland is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the children and families who visit our park. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Custodian plays an important role in supporting daily park operations by ensuring that facilities, restrooms, and common areas are well-maintained and sanitary.

This position is responsible for routine cleaning, sanitizing high-touch surfaces, maintaining park grounds, and supporting general facility upkeep. The Custodian helps ensure that Fairyland remains a safe, tidy, and enjoyable space for staff, guests, and the community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in all areas of the park, attractions, office spaces and restrooms 
  • Performs minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes 
  • Leads in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, and performs waste management throughout the park 
  • Performs preventive and periodic maintenance as assigned, such as cleaning ponds, scrubbing park sets, etc.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly supply room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked
  • Assists in examining park for safety hazards and reports deficiencies to Maintenance Manager and/or Director of Facilities
  • Assists other departments as needed including the Horticulture, Animals, Maintenance, Art/Restoration departments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • At least one (1) year work experience as a custodian, janitor or maintenance personnel
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions. 
  • Detail-oriented and thorough. 
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance. 
  • Ability to keep the park facilities clean and orderly. 
  • Ability to interact with staff and park visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous. Previous work experience a plus
  • Knowledge of some hand tools and related skills helpful
  • Completed or willing to complete Bloodborne Pathogen training
  • Possess a clear background history with no barriers to working with children

Physical Requirements 

This position is primarily located in an outdoor environment.  Able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation:

  • Stand, sit, kneel, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for the duration of an eight (8) hour shift
  • Traverse safely over uneven terrain throughout the entirety of the 10-acre amusement park 
  • Safely lift and transport items of up to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to operate motorized cleaning equipment
  • Ability to work in small, cramped areas.
  • Reach high work areas with ladders and/or scaffolding and work at heights greater than ten (10) feet.
  • Mix or work with chemicals, paints, cleaning agents or similar solutions using accepted protective equipment.
  • Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Respond quickly to sounds
  • See and respond quickly to situations
  • Communicate in clear, loud voice 
  • Operate two-way radio for communications with park personnel
  • Work in outdoor, seasonal weather conditions for 100% of shift

Benefits & Compensation

This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position scheduled for Wednesdays - Sundays, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. The non-negotiable starting rate of pay is $22.46. Full-time employees are eligible to participate in benefits the first of the month following 60 days of service.  Benefits include:
