Our 72-year-young local institution is seeking an energetic candidate who can work collaboratively with our Operations Team to ensure our ambitious strategic plan goals can be achieved!

The Retail Sales Manager supervises all aspects of daily Gift Shop operations including; staffing, purchase orders, merchandising, and web orders all while providing exceptional customer service. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Retail Sales Manager collaborates on annual budgeting and strategizing on new product aquisitions to drive sales and increase engagement with Fairyland visitors. In addition, this role will be responsible for leading regular inventory efforts and developing operational procedures to make the Gift Shop as functional and beautiful as possible!

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• At least two (2) years’ experience managing at least two (2) direct reports in retail setting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
• Excellent sales and customer service skills, with proven negotiation skills. 
• Excellent math skills to draft and implement budgets and conduct data analysis. 
• Ability to quickly build thorough understanding of Fairyland’s products and/or services, and those of immediate competitors in the surrounding market. 
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency Microsoft Office or Google Workspace Suite
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software experience. 
• Hands-on merchandising experience. 
• Ability to hire, train, motivate and communicate effectively with staff. 
• Ability to problem solve quickly and appropriately. 
• Knowledge of and working experience with Point-of-Sale systems, preferably Shopify
• Experience with data management on e-commerce platforms
• Ability to collaborate with others in a team environment. 
• Possess a clear background history with no barriers to working with children
• Possess current valid California Driver’s License with an insurable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialty or boutique retail experience 
• CPR/First Aid Certification
• Bilingual; Spanish or Cantonese greatly desired

Physical Requirements

This position is primarily located in an office environment.  Able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation:

• Considerable physical activity including bending at the waist, twisting, squatting, pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, reaching, and standing for 100% of shift;
• Ability to use and stock rolling and stationary sales racks, ladders, and other Fairyland retail store equipment
• Ability to operate POS systems and computer keyboards
• Traverse safely over uneven terrain throughout the entirety of the 10-acre amusement park 
• Communicate in clear speaking voice in person, 
• Able to occasionally lift 40-50 pounds with assistance
• Able to work special events, weekends, and evenings according to Fairyland’s event schedule
• Safely lift and transport items of up to 50 lbs. 
• Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
• Respond quickly to sounds
• See and respond quickly to situations
• Communicate in clear, loud voice 
• Operate two-radio for communications with park personnel
• Ability to work on weekends and holidays
• Proven track record of punctuality and attendance

Benefits & Compensation

This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position scheduled 40 hours per week Wednesday-Sunday, 8:30am-5:00pm. The rate of pay is $25.25 per hour, $52,520 annually. Full-time employees are eligible to participate in benefits the first of the month following 60 days of service. Benefits include:

• Medical: Fairyland pays 100% for employees and 50% for dependent children for our base Kaiser plan with options to buy up to Gold and Platinum plans. 
• Dental: 100% premium coverage for employees and 50% for dependent children on SunLife PPO. 
• Vision: 100% premium coverage for employees on VSP. Eligible dependents may be added to the vision plan.
• Paid Time Off (PTO):  In the first year, new full-time team members accrue ten (10) PTO days, ten (10) sick days, and six (6) paid holidays including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day,  and three (3) floating holidays! 
• Retirement:  All eligible team members can participate in the 401k plan upon hire.
• Employee membership program: Team members receive their choice of two (2) adult memberships and three (3) named children OR  six (6) guest passes annually to enjoy the park with their families and friends.
• Employee discounts:  Discounts on merchandise in the park’s gift shop and a 20% discount at our Café. 
• Fairyland parking pass:  Working at Fairyland means you don’t pay for parking! We provide designated passes for our staff.
