The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for facilities and custodial support with a goal of maintaining a quality and safe environment for guests and employees. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and other Facilities Managers when applicable, the position will perform a variety of non-skilled, semi-skilled, mechanical, maintenance and custodial tasks. The position seasonally fluctuates to reflect the demands of the park; during the winter months, the role will primarily be an assistant laborer whereas during the summer months the role will primarily consist of custodial duties.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• A minimum of one (1) year of previous paid work experience and knowledge and familiarity with materials used to perform various building, mechanical, and maintenance repair tasks
• Knowledge of general carpentry and repair
• Ability to measure, mix, and work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, paints, cleaning agents or similar solutions using normal protective equipment
• Experience with the use and care of hand and power equipment necessary to perform various building and maintenance repairs. 
• Able and willing to learn new skills
• Understanding of and comfortability with the position bring messy and/or dirty
• Ability to work collaboratively and regularly communicate with other people and work teams
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers. 
• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• High school diploma or equivalent required 
• Possess no barriers to working around children
• Possess current valid California Driver’s License with an insurable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one (1) year of experience in one or more of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, roofing, painting, mechanical and other related field

• Stand, sit, kneel, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for the duration of an eight (8) hour shift 
• Ability to work in small, cramped areas

• Ability to reach high work areas with ladders and/or scaffolding and work at heights greater than ten (10) feet

Benefits & Compensation

This is a full-time, non-exempt position scheduled 40 hours per week (5 full days) Wednesday through Sunday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with occasional evening availability for events at the park.  The rate of pay is $22.46 per hour. Benefits include:
